and Ban on Paint Strippers containing DCM

Public consultation on the inclusion of 20 new chemical substances onto the Candidate List
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has published proposals to identify 20 chemicals as Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) and thus as possible candidates for authorisation. The detailed proposals are available on the ECHA website. Interested parties are invited to comment on the proposals by 13th October 2011.

Ban on Paint Strippers containing Dichloromethane (DCM)
The marketing and use of paint strippers containing dichloromethane (DCM) is gradually being restricted (banned) in Europe under the REACH Regulation.

Please find the details of this EU restriction on DCM based paint strippers on our Health and Safety Authority’s (HSA) website at: DCM in Paint Strippers.
