Mr. John Whelan, Chief Executive of the IEA in making the announcement stated:
"The Cork/Kerry region represents a major sector of Irish export industry , with major clusters of pharmaceutical and medical devices companies and the home of some of our best known food and drink exporters. The IEA are delighted to welcome Dermot on board as Chairman of the important southern region of Cork and Kerry."
Dermot will be re-focusing the effort of the IEA in the region to ensure maximum support and promotion of export companies small and large within the region.
Mr. Carberry has held senior executive positions with a variety of industries both in Ireland and abroad over the last 20 years. He is Managing Director of a successful consultancy company 'Internal Solutions' which was established in 2009 offering extensive experience to SME's and large companies for business development, implementing change and sales & marketing development. He is involved in several start-up projects currently and is the the lead consultant/IEA Welsh Market director for the Irish Exporters Association.
He mentors for Enterprise Ireland and has worked with other government bodies such as Invest Northern Ireland. He has studied with the Irish Management Institute, Marketing Institute of Ireland (MII) and FETAC.
Commenting on the announcement Dermot Carberry stated:
"I am delighted to take up this position for the IEA. This region is a significant player in the export market and has an important part to play in the economic recovery process that we are currently experiencing. Through the IEA we will continue to support and act as a voice to ensure their continued success."
