Awards of Good Distribution Practice (GDP) presented to CEVA Logistics and KWE

The IEA Life Sciences Ireland awarded yesterday (12th May 2010) the Full Passport status in Good Distribution Practice for the pharmaceutical and medical devices industry to CEVA Logistics and KWE.

Speaking at the presentation, Mr. John Vallely, KWE Quality Manager, stated;

"We feel the IEA GDP Passport will ensure stakeholders in the Pharmaceutical / Medical Device Manufacturing and Distribution business sectors display leadership in supply chain security and safety, thus ensuring complete Supply Chain Integrity both in Ireland, Europe and Internationally. The Code of Practice, supported by the Life Sciences manufacturing industry , is a voluntary code which has gained the support of the Regulatory Authority - the IMB, and guarantees that Professional, Trained and Certified Service Providers know exactly the industries supply chain requirements."

Mr. Gary O'Connor, Country manager Ireland for CEVA Logistics speaking at the presentations of CEVA Logistics GDP Passport Certificate said;

"CEVA Logistics is delighted to have been awarded this prestigious award from the IEA Life Sciences division. CEVA recognise that cost effective, innovative and compliant solutions are critical to companies operating in the Life Sciences Sector and that the practices that form the basis of the GDP Passport will help to ensure that the logistics sector is well equipped to support Life Sciences in Ireland into the future."

The GDP Passport Code was drawn up by the Life Sciences industry and the Irish Exporters Association (IEA) in consultation with the Irish Medical Board (IMB) to meet the requirements as set out in the IMB's GDP Guidelines and the requirements set out by EU Guidelines. The GDP Code will bring Ireland to the highest standard required by the highly regulated pharmaceutical and medical devices global industry. As stated by Dr. P.J. Fitzpatrick "initiatives like the IEA GDP Passport help Ireland to position itself as a leading global hub for manufacturers of pharmaceutical products and/or medical devices."
