Increase in Production by 13.7% in February

A rise of 13.7& in annual industrial production has been seen in February 2010 compared to the figure in February 2009 according to the Central Statistics Office. This rise was due to a 33.4% rise in production of Pharmaceutical Products & Preparations, which was offset by a decline of 32.3% in the production of computer, electronic and optical products. There was also a decrease in turnover by 3.6%. The high-technology and chemical sectors also saw an increase of 18.5% and it is thought with the last 3 month period, ending February, was 5.7% higher than the previous quarter, that there will be a healthy average with manufacturing output throughout the year.
