Ireland becoming GDP more compliant

Many Irish enterprises are now faced with economic challenges rarely seen before, but despite the difficult and challenging times, there also exist opportunities. The question is where?

Exports have performed extremely well throughout 2010 and are widely acknowledge as being the main driver of economic growth in the years to come. Within the export sector, the pharmaceutical industry has become one of the most important contributors and Ireland now is the biggest net exporter of pharmaceutical products in the world.

But pharmaceutical manufacturers also need assurance that their logistics and transport companies are compliant with the tight regulations set out in the Good Manufacturing Practice (GDP) Regulations.

The Irish Exporters Association developed the Good Distribution Practice (GDP) Passport to assist the industry and meet international standards.

Since the 2008 launch of the GDP Passport by Mr. Patrick O’Mahony, CEO of the Irish Medicine Board, many international and indigenous companies achieved the requirements outlined in the GDP Passport Code and have been awarded with a GDP Passport.
