Irish Exporters head for ICT Expo in Hong Kong

The Irish Exporters Association is, this Saturday (12th April), leading a trade group of software and ICT companies to Hong Kong to participate in the ICT Expo from 14th to 17th April. This is the largest exhibition of ICT companies in Asia.

  • The trade group will exhibit in the Irish Pavilion which is jointly funded by the Irish Exporters Association, Enterprise Ireland and the County Enterprise Boards.
  • The 2008 ICT Expo will have product and service providers exhibiting from 18 countries and regions across Asia/Pacific.
  • This is the fourth year that the Irish Exporters Association has taken an exhibition stand and a trade group to the ICT Expo.

John Whelan, CEO of the Irish Exporters Association stated:

Asia is a rapidly growing market for ICT products and Irish companies have a competitive advantage in advanced software and communications applications systems.

The ICT Expo provides an excellent platform for business leads with 22, 746 buyers from 124 countries attending the show last year.”

Irish exports to Asia increased by one quarter billion euro in 2007, to reach a new total of EUR 7.6 billion.

The main market gain was in exports to China which increased by 45%, but we also suffered a major loss in our exports to Japan, which fell by 15%.
