Liam Shanihan was chosen to head up the IEA Council for the coming years, while Pat Higgins and Mark Fitzgerald are to take the role of Vice Presidents. Bill McGinnis was chosen for the dual role of Chairman of the Northern Ireland Exporters Association and Vice President of the Irish Exporters Association.
Liam Shanahan- IEA Council President
Liam Shanahan is the Managing Director of Shanahan Engineering Ltd. an engineering company providing Project & Construction Management, Operation & Maintenance and Technical Field Services to the Power Generation, Oil & Gas and Industrial Process sectors, worldwide. The company currently operates in the Middle East, China, Angola, Venezuela, United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Nigeria, Russia, Argentina, Australia, Greece, India and Ireland. Liam Shanahan was also the Winner of the 2003 Ernst & Young Irish Entrepreneur of the Year. He holds a BCL from UCC and an MBA from EAP, European School of Management. He speaks fluent French and German.
Dr. Bill McGinnis- Chairman of NIEA and Vice President of the IEA
Dr Bill McGinnis, chairman of the McAvoy Group of Dungannon, a market leading company in off-site construction techniques, has been elected Chairman of the Northern Ireland Exporters Association. Dr McGinnis, one of Northern Ireland’s most experienced and successful exporters, has extensive experience at senior management level in the private sector and also in public service with bodies such as Invest Northern Ireland and UK Trade and Investment. A former President of the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr McGinnis has vast knowledge of international markets such as the Middle East, India and Europe gained over 30 years in business. He has also led a series of Northern Ireland trade delegations to markets across the Middle East.
Pat Higgins- IEA Council Vice President
Pat has worked in the International Food and Drinks business for over 25 years. He is Managing Director of Pasta Concepts Ltd, which is part of the Queally Group. He also carries responsibility for New Business Development for the Queally Group. Prior to joining Queally he worked in the IDA and Coopers and Lybrand.
Mark Fitzgerald- IEA Council Vice President
Mark Fitzgerald is the Chief Operating Officer of Citibank Europe plc. Mark is a director and board member both of Citibank Europe plc and its immediate parent company Citibank Holdings Ireland Limited (CHIL). Prior to his current role, Mark served as Director and Head of Trustee Services for Citibank Trustees Ireland Limited (CTIL) from 1997 until 2001. Citigroup are a major service exporters out of Ireland. Mark holds a Barrister-At-Law degree from Kings Inns and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Cork. Mark started his career with Allied Irish Investments Bank in 1987. Mark was Head of Trustee Services in Ulster Bank Markets from 1994 until 1997.
Joe Tynan- Treasurer
Joe Tynan is a Tax Partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers. He works with Irish companies who operate internationally. He assists with the tax issues associated with exporting to or establishing operations outside of Ireland. This includes Irish and foreign corporate tax, sales taxes, withholding taxes and various local taxes.
